WhatsApp is one of the most popular social media platform. It bring a lots of people to come across together in one single phone number. Just in one click the message can be sent from one part to another part of the world. So to overcome the problem of misleading and misguidance of our personal WhatsApp number we have to safeguard ourselves. Click to Chat lets user to create URL or QR links codes that other can use to reach them through WhatsApp, without knowing their WhatsApp number or phone numbers. This helps the person who uses WhatsApp business account which makes it publicly searchable in google.
There is a debate over whether this is intentional or a bug. Google algorithm pulls the phone number from Click to Chat links metadata, which is then saved to google search index.
It really doesn't matter if this is part of the feature or an unexpected side effect .
The problem is many WhatsApp users are unaware that using click to chat would add their phone number to google search index.
There is a reason why people try to keep their personal phone numbers off the internet. Its a potential security risk and makes spam calls more likely.
For now don't use "Click to Chat" , if you want to keep your WhatsApp phone number off of google search index. If you are already using the Click to Chat , delete any click to chat link from publicly accessible websites. Alternatively you can look into using a service like google voice with WhatsApp if you want to continue using click to chat without compromising your personal phone number.
